Please review summary of the event

In last year's Cyber 3 Conference 2015, the need for mutually cooperative cross-border relations in cyberspace was recognized as a common global issue.

In addition, the Japanese Government’s growth strategy mentions GDP growth through the realization of the 4th Industrial Revolution, taking full advantage of technologies such as IoT and AI. As Japan’s population shrinks, it will become increasingly important to put these and other ICT technologies into practical use to maintain economic productivity. The Government understands that these trends, including IoT, AI, and big data, may shake the foundations of business and society, and is concerned that if Japan does not actively pursue the development and implementation of these technologies, it may experience a rapid decline in its international competitiveness. Cyber security is the key to promote these sweeping technological reforms in both the public and private sectors. Without cyber security, these technological advances could bring more problems than benefits. Yet Japanese executives are still not in full agreement as to the importance of such security measures*1.

With this background, Nikkei Inc. is pleased to hold the Cyber3 Conference Tokyo 2016 in cooperation with the Japanese Government, World Economic Forum (WEF), and Cyber3 Committee*2. Based on the G7 Ise-Shima Leaders’ Declaration, the Conference will discuss what specific actions Japan should take as a leader in Asia considered from the viewpoints of industry, academia, government, and civil society.

Your participation in the Conference would be greatly appreciated.
